“I’m That Girl”: Bellah On Self-Belief, British R&B & Creating Your Own Narrative

At the forefront of the UK’s R&B scene sits Bellah: a North Londoner self-described as a ‘Black girl making music I think is cool’. Influenced by the likes of Stevie Wonder, Brandy and Beyoncé, Bellah’s sound is unique yet nostalgic. Exploring themes of love, growth, fear and vulnerability, whilst accompanied by smooth beats and soft soulful vocals, Bellah’s music is beautifully tailored to the experiences of black women.

Fresh off the release of her latest project ‘Adultsville’ and having already been nominated as one of MTV Push’s Emerging Artists of 2023, it's clear that Bellah is only just getting started. Black Ballad spoke to Bellah to discuss her journey into music, the current UK R&B scene as well as her plans for the year ahead.
